Many of Aten's commonly-used functions are accessible through individual toolbars. At the outset, several of these are visible at the top of the main window (as well as the tool window toolbar to the right), but may be repositioned around the main window as necessary. Right-clicking on a toolbar area brings up a list of all available toolbars, allowing them to be shown and hidden. The last state of the toolbars (positions and visibility) is restored the next time Aten is started.
Bonds between atoms can be calculated and removed en masse with the bonding toolbar, encompassing either the whole model or just the current atom selection. The bond tolerance used in the calculation of bonds can be set with the spin control. Automatic detection of multiple bonds can be performed with the augment tool.
Table 5.2. Bonding Toolbar Icons
![]() | Recalculate bonding in the current model |
![]() | Clear bonding in the current model |
![]() | Recalculate bonding in the current model, restricted to the current atom selection |
![]() | Clear all bonds between atoms in the current selection |
![]() | Based on the current connectivity, determine multiple bonds |
| N/A | The spinbox controls the bonding tolerance to use when automatically determining which atoms are bound - if the distance between two is less than the sum of their defined radii multiplied by this factor, then a bond exists |
